Star Wars V "The Empire Strikes Back," starts out in a frozen planet called Hoth. Luke Skywalker has finished his circles and when he finished contacting the base saying there's a meteror in the ground, he gets kidnapped by the Wampa (snow monster) and brought back to his cave hanging from the icy ceiling. All of the people, CP30, and R2-D2 are at the base looking and wondering where Luke is because he was supposed to return back there after finishing his circles. When Luke awakens from sleeping while hanging from the icy ceiling, and he uses his force to get his lightsabor, while he does that, the Wampa comes back in and Luke attacks him with his lightsabor escaping, trying to get back to the base. The dark force is part of Darth Vador's army and the rebellion includes Princess Leia and Han Solo. The Rebellion joins the group with Luke Skywalker.
The characters of Star Wars V "The Empire Strikes Back," are C-3PO played by Anthony Daniels, R2-D2 played by Ben Burtt, Luke Skywalker played by Mark Hamill, Han Solo played by Harrison Ford, Princess Leia played by Carrie Fisher, Darth Vador played by David Prowse, and Chewbacca played by Peter Mayhew. R2-D2 and C-3PO are major character in all of the six movies. They go all around places because they supported Darth Vador, Obi-Wan Kanobi, and Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker was told by Obi-Wan Kanobi to travel to the planet Dagobah and complete his training under Jedi Master Yoda. Darth Vador also known as Anakin Skywalker leads the dark force and also known as the father of Luke Skywalker. Han Solo was a smuggler and a mercenary. He and his mate, Chewbacca, became involved in the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire. Princess Leia is the twin sister of Luke Skywalker and the daughter of Darth Vador. Before Leia knew that she was Luke's twin sister, she was madly in love with him, but then she found out and liked Han Solo.
I thought that Star Wars was a somewhat interesting movie, because I didn't understand much of it, for not watching the first movie, so I don't really know what happened before. The music in the beginning sounded very dramatic and I loved how it started with a introduction explaining what happened in the previous movie that rolled up like credits. Overall, I still liked the movie, it actually showed the goofs, and the graphics weren't that bad. I can't wait to go to the Field trip to the Kabuki Theater.

George Lucas Bio: Homework
George Walton Jr. Lucas was born on May 14, 1944 in Modesto, California. Lucas attended University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. While he was there, he learned many things about Cinematic Arts and that is probably what brought his success now. He was worth $3 billion in the year 2010. He is an film director, producer, and film writer. He is well known for creating the movie Star Wars and the character Indiana Jones. Now, he is one of the most popular and one of the most successful directors and producer in cinema history.
George Lucas's first Star Wars came out on May 25, 1977. He started out by taking small notes and ended up putting it all together into a script, forming a movie. When it first came out, everyone rushed out to movie theaters to see it on opening night. People would line up and wait a week for opening night because back in those days, the graphics of it were just so clear and amazing to people. If you play close attention to the movie, you might see some goofs. This film earned $460 million in the United States and $337 million overseas, beating the movie "Jaws" gross revenue. It got ten nominations, but still got 6/10 awards!
After making the first Star Wars movie, it was a huge hit! He continued to make 5 more to continue the fantastic series. The 6 movies are "The Phantom Menace" (May 19, 1999), "Attack of the Clones" (May 16, 2002), "Revenge of the Sith" (May 15, 2005), "A New Hope" (May 25, 1977), "The Empire Strikes Back" (May 21, 1980), and "Return of the Jedi" (May 25, 1983). He is extremely rich after making all of these movies and they are still popular, watched today.

Do Now: Stars Wars
Today, in Media Arts we watched Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back. This movie was made 30 years ago. The graphics don't look that good now, but back then, those graphics were the best graphics. The movie starts out with Luke Skywalker in a snowy climate, but then he gets punched in the face by a snow monster. He is brought back into his cave hanging from the icy ceiling, then awakens and tries to get back down, when he uses his force to grab his light saber, the snow monster comes back in, and Luke hits him with his light saber. The orange suits start with their jets start to attack the monsters.

Take the Challenge-Advertising Proposal
I think that we should advertise our podcasts by:
Making our own website where we will put all of our Word Generation podcasts on it. We should put a survey or a poll on the side and let people vote on how well our website and podcasts are. After we finish making the website, we could put it on the front page of our school website. We can make interesting banners and posters for people to see that the Media Arts Class is making Word Generation podcasts.
I think this is a good way to advertise our podcasts because we will not have to take up so much space on the school website and our website will run faster.

Blog Entry: Semester Paragraph
In the first semester of Media Arts, we have learned many new things, such as from doing a voice recording for a podcast to adding more things to it, such as music, pictures, video recordings, and animations. We have made many advancements for our podcasts. When we first arrived to this class, we didn't know what to expect. The first project or assignment that we had to do was the CST test scores comparison. I thought it was a little boring because we were just looking for evidence and data, but later on in the year it has gotten more fun! This year we did Word Generation podcasts mostly, but it was still interesting and fun because we worked with new people that we didn't know much about and we had to work together to complete the podcasts. We had some breakdowns and frustrations, but when we worked everything out, everything worked out. The new programs that we used for our podcasts are Kerpoof, Garageband, and Imovie. My favorite was using Kerpoof, because I got to make pictures and drawings. Overall, this year was exciting, interesting, and educational.

| | clarity of speech (Can understand every word spoken. Not too fast nor too slow. ) | creative look (the title, images, video and credits are all easy to see and make you want to look at the podcast. Illustrations are related to the word or sentence and feel original and fresh. The credits don’t go by too quickly and are readable. There’s a sense that the whole podcast has the same theme and look) | creative production (The music adds quality to the podcast. It’s not too loud nor too soft. You can hear speech over the music easily. The speed of the podcast is even and flows without blank spots or awkward cuts. There’s something interesting about the way it’s all put together. The Kerpoof picture is relevant to the word and a sentence and makes the podcast more interesting) | including all requirements (This week’s requirement was to use a Kerpoof picture with a cartoon that used at least one of the words. Great means they used more than one. There also must be 1. definition 2. WG sentence 3. Original sentence 4. Credits with no last names 5. Bibliography with name of web site and urls 6. Document named the word) |
| Great | | Very great beginning and the pictures are perfectly matched with the voices. | The music is just right because it’s not to loud and not to soft. It goes in the background while members are saying their lines. | They included all the requirements including the Kerpoof picture. |
| Needs a little work | I think that they need to say the lines just a little bit faster and with more emotion. | | | |
| Needs a lot of work or isn’t there at all | | | | |

| Great | I can understand all the words and sentences each member of the team says. | | | It has all the requirements that are required including the Kerpoof Picture. |
| Needs a little work | | It needs a Title because it looks like it does not have an introduction and doesn't make it look interesting | It needs music because it sounds kind of boring without it and it will make it sound good. | |
| Needs a lot of work or isn’t there at all | | | | |
